PROOF Centre Biobank, Canada

Registration Status: Pending

Objective: To store all left over biospecimens, collected as part of PROOF Centre's biomarker research projects, for future research purposes. The biomarker research projects are focused on organ transplantation (liver, kidney, heart), heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Additional research can be conducted on these samples to further knowledge on the disease and other chronic diseases related to the discovery of treatments, to validate drug targets, identify disease mechanisms, and help to discover and translate novel biomarkers into the clinic. This would be benefit researchers as it gives them access to samples already collected to do their research and it would benefit future patients with the disease or other chronic diseases. The biobank can provide the research community with resources needed to conduct future research.
