School of Public Health Tissue Repository (SPHTR), Singapore
Objective: As the School is increasingly getting more research projects requiring the storage of the investigators’ bio-samples, the School is establishing a centralized bio-sample storage system (CBSS) with database managed by an independent IT team to track specimens held at the School Tissues Repository (SPH-TR) to cater to such needs. The objective of implementing the CBSS is to make it easy for the investigators to focus on their research and avoid unnecessary and costly investment in equipment, staffing and storage facilities for their samples. All sample storage facilities will be purchased, owned and maintained by the School. Cost recovery from the investigators is essential for the School to maintain the TR facilities and the operational costs of providing such services. Operating procedures for the management of such CBSS can be effectively standardized and reviewed regularly by the Tissues Repository Advisory Committee (TRAC) to ensure our operations are in accordance with national guidelines and international best practices.
