Objective: The National Dasman Diabetes Biobank (NDDB) provide DDI and collaborative project investigators with a variety of repository services for conducting short and long-term research projects (epigenetics, clinical trial and prospective) related to diabetes and its complications. The NDDB’s wide range of services including, but not limited to sample processing, sample fractionation (aliquot), storage, testing as well as nucleic acid isolation. NDDB consists of biosafety level 3 with ample laboratory space for blood and other body fluid processing, tissue sample processing (histology and immunohistochemistry lab) and cell culture lab. NDDB is facilitated with secured sample storage rooms with -80° C freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks. NDDB house more than 32,000 research participants and manages more than 300,000 biological specimens using a sample management system, Tissue Auditor (Infonetica Research Solutions, United Kingdom) for freezer inventory and tracking. More than 60 research projects (research and medical division) are currently using NDDB services.
