Objective: The Alessandria Biobank is configured as a service provider, non-profit unit aimed at the collection, preservation and distribution of biological samples for scientific research purposes by guaranteeing the rights of the subjects involved. The Alessandria Biobank is inspired by and based on ethical principles, guidelines, national and international legal frameworks concerning the protection of the privacy of the patient/donor. The Alessandria Biobank relies on the collaboration with the internal Scientific Committee, appointed to evaluate the scientific projects requesting for biological materials, to assess the priority of projects, to potentially approve requests to make biological material available for research purposes, and to discuss and evaluate, whenever necessary, contingent and specific problems concerning the whole organization and its activities.
